Questions About Voting? Call the Election Protection Hotline!

Election Day is almost here! We hope you have voted during the early voting period. If not, you can still make a plan to vote on Election Day - polls will be open from 6:30am - 7:30pm on Tuesday, November 8th. If you are in line by 7:30pm, you will be able to vote.

Make your plan now to vote at your polling place on Election Day (you can find that info here: https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/). Many people have voted during early voting this year and there are multiple polling places open on Election Day, which will help decrease lines and wait times. Please note that lines are usually longest early in the morning, later in the evening, and at lunch time. But no matter when you go to the polls on Election Day (or during early voting), you are able to vote if you are in line before the polls close.

You can find more information about voting on Election Day at the NC State Board of Elections website.

If you have questions about voting, or a problem at a polling place, you can call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline 1-888-OUR-VOTE (1-888-687-8683) for help. This hotline is staffed by volunteer legal professionals who can answer your questions and address barriers to voting in real time. If you have a problem at your polling place, call the election protection hotline before you leave the site! Often your problems can be resolved in time for you to cast your vote.

You can also call this hotline to report any issues you are seeing at polling sites, such as very long lines, voter misinformation or intimidation, or problems with voter accessibility.

One of the best ways to ensure you cast your ballot is to make a plan to vote. Locate your polling place, print out your sample ballot, and write on the calendar what time you plan to vote before you vote. Then you will be all ready when the time comes. See you at the polls!
